We are proud and pleased to announce the end of the activities on the project ”The importance and role of space spatial data in the cultivation of Mediterranean cultures of the central Dalmatian islands” which our company carried out during the past few months, in cooperation with partners LAG Škoji and LAG Brač. This project was carried out within the Action Plan of the National Rural Network 2021-2022, and was co-financed with the funds of Measure 20 Technical assistance from the Rural Development Program of the Republic of Croatia for the period 2014-2020.
Study as the main product of the project
The main product of the project is manifested through the scientific study ”The importance and role of space spatial data in the cultivation of Mediterranean cultures of the central Dalmatian islands”, through which a pilot project of the inventory and applicability of innovative technological solutions in agriculture based on the use of spatial data was designed and implemented. The author team of the study consists of Assoc. Ph.D.Sc Marin Čagalj (research leader), M.Sc. Dragan Divjak mag. ing. geod. et geoinf. (director of the LIST LABS company), Antonio Morić-Španić, mag. geogr. (external expert associate) and Damir Matić, mag. ing. geod. et geoinf. (lead software developer, LIST LABS).
The study analyzed the current state, challenges and problems, as well as future trends in the development of agriculture in the central Dalmatian islands, with special reference to the impact of climate change on island agriculture. The study inventoried and explained the possibilities of using space spatial data in the cultivation of Mediterranean crops of the central Dalmatian islands (Brač, Hvar, Vis and Šolta) with a special focus on the two most represented agricultural crops – olives and vines. In conclusion, in the final chapter of the study, implementation model of future implementation guidelines for the integration of space spatial data in the cultivation of Mediterranean cultures of the subject area was proposed.
Through the project, along with the creation of a scientific study, an educational workshop was held to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of 15 women from the rural island area through the implementation of education on the possibilities of using and managing space spatial data, which was held on November 7, 2022 in the city of Hvar.
The final presentation of the results was held on November 21, 2022 in the city of Hvar, and a significant number of local stakeholders from different areas participated in it – local farmers, representatives of winemakers associations, representatives of the public sector, educational institutions, civil society organizations, private companies and crafts, etc.
The results of the scientific study will be used to improve the development and management of the agricultural resources of the central Dalmatian islands, and you can download it below.
